14 Books All Young Women Should Read--with guest Pam Wolfe

My grandma, Pam Wolfe, has been an inspiration to me my whole life. She loves the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She has the most generous heart. She has impeccable taste in style, decor, and books.

My grandma was also an English teacher, and her love of books (collecting and reading) has definitely trickled down to her children and grandchildren. Therefore, I invited her to share a list of the top books she believes all young women should read. I love her reasons for each, and these titles come just in time to add to my summer reading list!

If you want to snag a copy of any of these books, they are all linked! Happy shopping!

Mairin recently asked me to write a guest post about some of the top books that I think every young woman should read.

These are a few that have been important to me over the years and are among the many books that have shaped my life.

1. The Bible   A lifetime of study and learning

2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak   How precious are books.

3. My Brother’s Keeper by Marcia Davenport    Answers the question, Why minimalism?

4. Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis   The greatest Christian apologist of the 20th century

5. The Diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank   Because history must be remembered

6. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee   Compassion and justice and injustice

7. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling   Books about choices between what is right and what is easy.  “Tyranny starts with people being apathetic and taking the easy route and suddenly finding themselves in deep trouble.”  J.K. Rowling

8. Watership Down by Richard Adams   Keep your imagination alive.

9. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier   What is love?

10. Zelda by Nancy Milford   A taste of how the “other half” lives

11. WutheringHeights by Emily Bronte   Writing against all odds

12. Giants in the Earth by Ole Rolvaag   Reality is hard.  No romanticism here.

13. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot   Compassionate story of a social wrong

14. Times to Remember by Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy   Journaling and organization and writing your own fascinating story, if a bit whitewashed

Thank you for the list, Grandma! Love you!
