The Kitchen Renovation

Kitchen renovations: if you have done one, you know that they are not easy. Inevitably, something will go wrong. My parents spent some time this summer renovating their kitchen, and despite some setbacks, the end result is absolutely beautiful! They put in so. much. work!!! And it went a long way!

We didn't think to take "Before" pictures (rookie mistake!), but here are some "During" pictures (all the cabinet doors had already been removed)--

--The wall color was a mustard yellow (super popular in about 2003!)
--Floral window treatments
--Maroon accents
--Brass colored hardware
--Pine trim and floor
--Cream countertops

So here is what they did--

--Refinished the floors
--Painted the walls
--Painted the trim around the windows and doors white
--Refinished the counter tops with gray counter top paint
--Sanded, primed, painted, and sealed all of the cabinets and doors
--Painted the existing hardware black
--Refinished the light fixture
--Added an open shelving detail above the stove
--Added hand lettering detail above their pantry
--New rug from Ikea
--Organized, purged, and decorated!

Refinishing the floors!

Sanding down every surface!

Mom enlisted ol' Grace & Peace to do a hand lettered accent on the wall.

You all know how much I love details!
We added this great open shelving area--I love how all of my mom's cake stands look!

I love the contrasts here. Lots of light and bright color on the walls and trim--adding warmth with the dark floors and black accents!

Same countertops, different color!

The floors turned out so well!

Grace & Peace at it again! I wrote on these labels for all of Mom's pop top containers! So cute and handy!

And one last little project I did--Mom keeps her birdseed in these galvanized bins, so I labeled them!

My parents went to so much work, but it turned out beautifully.

Thanks for reading!

grace & peace
